Shared responsibility in waste management

Currently, the correct management of waste must be a shared responsibility, since we face numerous challenges in environmental matters. This concept of «shared responsibility» has been used since 2015, when the European Commission launched a report on the management of hazardous waste, which stated that it is of vital importance to handle this waste in a shared manner, taking into account to all agents involved in the management chain.

In order to be part of this process of shared responsibility, it is essential that, as a company, some aspects are managed beforehand. First of all, it is key to have good waste management and classification. After this, keeping an electronic record of these classifications is a point that can be very important and that would facilitate the work when distributing the tasks once within the management chain.

WEEE in the shared responsibility process

Within this shared process, it is important to mention the Circular Economy, since its presence is crucial for the management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

Likewise, in order to guarantee the sustainability of the production system, it is necessary to meet a series of objectives established at the European level, in terms of recycling and reuse of waste. With the previously mentioned Royal Decree 110/2015, in which the management of hazardous waste was discussed, a complex process is created in which a series of requirements must be followed in order to reach the aforementioned objectives. , since only in this way can we ensure a correct treatment of these materials and consider that we are within a process of shared responsibility.
