A delegation from the European Commission on Circular Economy visits Movilex Recycling Group as an example of good practices in the sector.

The plant that Movilex Recycling Group has in Lobón has received a visit today from the delegation of the European Commission that is working to promote the circular economy, especially among European SMEs.

Extremadura has been one of the six selected, among more than sixty regions of the EU, to participate in this initiative. And Movilex was chosen as an example within this circular economy philosophy, for which more than three hundred companies showed interest in participating.

For this reason, the European delegation has passed through our facilities today as part of their visit to the Extremadura region, where they will also have the opportunity to hold meetings with other Community institutions. It is about promoting participation in the support program to design public instruments for companies to develop the circular economy and this technical visit has been the first contact to learn about regional experiences related to this area.

From now on, from the EU they intend to provide online training modules, accessible to all SMEs, to help establish and/or improve in the field of the circular economy. For their part, companies must adopt circular economy strategies and practices, as well as try to help expand the solutions that a number of companies are applying in an ecological key and that is in tune with the circular economy. “Through these activities, the Commission intends to bring assets (for example, knowledge, networks and tools) to SMEs in order to enable these companies throughout the European Union to benefit from the benefits of the circular economy.”

More than half a million companies of these characteristics could benefit from the actions contemplated in this proposal and help drive Europe’s transition towards a circular economy. Although the number of companies that are developing activities in this field has grown in recent years, it has been detected that many find serious difficulties in its implementation and, in this sense, the Commission intends to address aid to contribute to further development and advice of these companies.
