Petrobras is a Brazilian company dedicated to the exploitation of oil. This company is made up of two companies:

-Transpetro: is in charge of the ships that use fuel; that is, gas and fuel freighters.

-Sete Brasil: is in charge of drilling probes; that is, ships with drilling rigs to drill wells mainly in the Pre-salt area, in the Atlantic, on the coast near Rio de Janeiro and Espiritu Santo.

Due to the problems that arose in 2014 due to the Lava Jato operation, the investigation into money laundering carried out in Brazil led to the dismissal of Sete Brasil, automatically canceling all its ships. At this time, the South Atlantic Shipyard was working on seven drilling rigs. Given the situation, the shipyard considered using the parts already manufactured for other projects or selling them as second-hand material.

Main functions and tasks of Movilex:

It is at this moment that we decided to take part, buying 21,000 tons of naval steel blocks, 30,000 tons of sheets, cables, stainless steel, and carbon steel. These different materials were cut in the measurements 1.5m x 1m x 0.5m, specifications required by customers in Spain. At MOVILEX we hire several companies to carry out the cutting in these specific measurements. The second-hand material that we transform was sent to different parts of the world; the sheets, some 30,000Tm, were sent to Egypt in a ship, the stainless steel was sent to India in containers and the cables were sent to our plant, where they were transformed, removing the plastic and covering them to obtain copper.
